H.E. Oto Pungartnik, Ambassador
Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the United Arab Emirates H.E. Oto Pungartnik handed over copies of credentials to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Secretary of State H.E. Ahmed Sari Al Mazroui on 15.5.2019. He handed over the letters of confidence on 19.11.2018 to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.
During his 20-year diplomatic career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, he served at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tokyo (2012-2016), the Embassy in Moscow (2006-2010), the Slovenian Mission to NATO (2003-2004) and at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Beijing (2000-2003). Previously, he served for one year at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food of the Republic of Slovenia in the EU PHARE program office (1999). From 1990 to 1998, he was Vice-President of the Executive Council and later Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Šentjur. His first job was at the Štore Ironworks, where he worked from 1978 to 1989.
He holds a BA in International Political Science.
He is married to Valeria Pungartnik and has two children.
